The 'Pahandi' is the famous, grand procession where the Lord is brought out from the temple's sanctum (Garbha Griha) and ceremoniously carried to the top of the chariot to begin the journey.
This is the ceremonial sweeping of the chariot's floor. It is performed by the Gountia (headman) of Bhatli using scented water. This ritual signifies that everyone, regardless of status, is an equal servant before the Lord. The chariot pulling begins only after this is completed.
'Ratha Chhuan' is an age-old tradition where parents bring their new-born babies (after their Annaprasana, or first food intake) to touch the sacred chariot. It is believed this divine touch purifies the child and blesses them with good health and happiness.
As per the unique traditions of this temple, cooked rice (Anna Bhoga) is not offered to Lord Dadhivamana. The deities enjoy 'Balbhoga' only.
The festival is managed by the Sri Dadhibaman Mahaprabhunka Pabitra Rathayatra Parichalana Committee, which is a registered trust.
