Witness the most auspicious Ratha Jatra of Western Odisha, a sacred tradition since 1600 AD.
Situated in Bhatli block of Bargarh district, the Sri Dadhibaman Temple is one of the most revered spiritual centers in Western Odisha. Founded in 1912, the temple's rituals are performed in perfect accordance with the traditions of the world-renowned Jagannath Temple of Puri.
"It is believed that a glimpse of Sri Dadhibaman sitting atop the chariot grants moksha."
This profound belief draws lakhs of devotees from across the nation. It is a moment of pure spiritual connection, a divine 'darshan' that is said to purify the soul and grant liberation, making the Ratha Jatra not just a festival, but a journey towards salvation.
The festival is marked by unique and heartfelt rituals passed down through generations, each with a profound spiritual meaning.
The famous Pahandi is the divine journey of the Lord from the temple sanctum (Garbha Griha) to the top of the chariot.
This grand procession, witnessed by lakhs of devotees, is a spectacular sight filled with devotion, music, and chanting, as the deity makes His way to bless the public.
This is the ceremonial sweeping of the chariot's floor. The Gountia (headman) of Bhatli performs this ritual, cleaning the chariot with scented water and flowers.
It signifies that everyone, from the highest authority to the common man, is an equal servant before the Lord. Only after this ritual is the chariot pulling commenced.
An age-old and heartwarming tradition where parents bring their new-born babies (typically after their Annaprasana) to touch the sacred chariot of Sri Dadhibaman.
It is widely believed that the child's body is purified by this divine touch, ensuring blessings for their happiness, good health, and long life.
